Introduction
This document provides an overview of three key issues for the development of public-private partnerships for competitiveness and job creation in the knowledge society.
First, it analyzes the importance of the business climate with transparency and rule of law achieved through an efficient regulatory framework enforced by a “competitive” government in order to attract investment and boost sustainable economic growth.
The new world’s perspective on education and skills training as a necessary component to enhance competitiveness as well as to boost human development in the knowledge society is the topic to be discussed in Session II.
Finally, the challenges and opportunities derived from information and communication technologies in the new era of globalization is a fundamental element to provide nations with connectivity to the global economy, trade, innovation and the information that spurs more efficiency of the markets and sustainable competitiveness.
