Enrrique de Obarrio

 

               Born in Panama, Republic of Panama in 1962. He received his Bachelor of Law and Political Science at the Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua (USMA), in 1986, a year later, he carried out postgraduate studies at the prestigious Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC 
  
  
               From 1990 to 1993, the Bachelor of Obarrio served the country with distinction at the Organization of American States (OAS) in various positions, including political adviser and then as Ambassador, Alternate Representative of Panama to the OAS.
 
 
               In 1993, the Obarrio led the delegation of Panama to the World Human Rights Conference in Vienna, before returning to Panama to return to his professional activities.
 
 
                In 1998 he founded his own private practice, the professional firm of lawyers Obarrio-Carles & Associates, which he rejoined after having contributed to the development of banking regulation and transparency and the strengthening of the International Banking Center of Panama, as National Legal Director of the Superintendency of Banks of Panama from October 2000 to March 2004.
 
 
                The Obarrio is a member of the board of several cultural organizations, professional and trade associations, the Board of Directors of Casa Esperanza. He was President of the Panamanian Association of Business Executives (APEDE) and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Competitiveness Center. As Chairman of the Ethics Commission, Citizenship and Democracy of the APEDE, was involved in drafting and promoting the transparency law, and was the organizer of the First Forum for Ethics in Financial Sector; so, now is involved in various initiatives within the private sector, geared towards the implementation of a new international ISO standard for certification of ethical conduct in business, and is a central figure in the adoption of Business Ethics Pact and membership of the Basic Principles of Ethics Business by the business community in Panama.
 
 
                 The Obarrio speaks fluent in English and Spanish and is married with three children.
