The Private Sector of the Americas is an Inter-American, non profit institution that gathers national and regional business entities and companies from the private sector to facilitate and promote the establishment of a formal and institutionalized dialogue with the Organization of American States (OAS) and, through it, with its Member States.
After more than a decade of economic reforms and trade liberalization in the region, the American countries recognize the need to ensure these reforms bring benefits for their people. The private sector should discuss and highlight public-private initiatives to convert proposals into reality. This is the commitment and responsibility we must assume.
Our mission is to establish a hemispheric network to enable the Private Sector of the Americas to work efficiently in the development of ideas, proposals and initiatives in general agreement, which will then be submitted to governments.
Our main goal is to generate and strengthen public-private partnerships to achieve economic growth, equity and poverty reduction, through the submission of recommendations, proposals and initiatives in the agenda of hemispheric development. This cooperation should not only serve to circumvent the obstacles that the failures of the state can bring in the way of development of entrepreneurship and growth, but also to overcome the failures of the markets.
